getting carried away with colour

a warm up sketch of eric's wife

biatch posses in full colour

I haven't got around to sketching quiet a few of the regular'sfrom big bellied adies chat room and erics missus was one that I should have sketched sooner... I liked the shading in my chinesse ink sketch... but then I got distracted by techincal stuff like being booted and I ended up with a very colourful underpainting... but I just love the colour

the yrret sitings....

a more reclining terry trying out her new swivel chair

I'm getting the hang of the chinesse ink... and even doing it wet on wet now... it dries with much more delicate tonal range than i imagined.... richer darks and still detail in the lighter washed areas... gives the sketches a very delicate touch.

Using brush & ink

Panther & her kitten
panther & cuddles her pussy

back to sketching off the web... it is good therapy for my malaise & fun... to get myself started i just bought some chinesse ink sticks, a brush and a stone... love the tones i can get... only problem is i'm using standard office paper and it soon get saturated.... not so easy to get detail... the results are nice and delicate, but unfortunately a little crinkled when they dry.

Finding some humanity in art

I've been so busy I didn't realise my accommodation run out yesterday... luckily they can extend a few days... but I went looking for somewhere close to the office... walking distance... preferably on changi road... didn't find anywhere but I did find some sections of the old world war two changi prison... it might have been re-located.., anyway it contains a series of amazing murals.. they have been repainted based on some originals painted by a british prisoner of war

The caption for the mural of saint luke, sort of sums up my feelings of the profiteers and con-artists swarming all over the well intentioned relief agents trying to come to grips with the horrific effects of the tsunami... and especially for those directly effected, homeless, overwhelmed and still largely alone... in a wide open prison... just without walls... infact with much left standing

"Father forgive them for they know not what they do"

I was chatting with terry just the night before and she was encouraging me to get back to sketching... and art as a way to forget the horror... good advice and well tried here in singapore during another possibly even more horrific event... this was such a coincidence
